Washington: The United States has announced that it will stick to the deadline for withdrawal from Kabul, US President Joe Biden has said that we will not extend the deadline for withdrawal from Kabul.
According to US broadcaster CNN, President Joe Biden has accepted the Pentagon’s recommendations and made the final decision to vacate Kabul Airport on August 31.
According to a senior Biden administration official, the US president believes that staying longer in Afghanistan would be a security risk. The president also asked his security team what the alternative would be if the United States had to stay longer in Afghanistan in an emergency.
The official said that although the United States had evacuated thousands of people from Afghanistan, the situation in Afghanistan was still uncertain and many Afghans who supported the United States were still waiting to leave the country.
According to the administration official, the Pentagon had sent recommendations to US President Joe Biden stating that US forces were fully prepared and could easily evacuate Kabul airport by the August 31 deadline, which Biden has accepted. There is a national possibility that the United States will evacuate Kabul within the given deadline.
On the other hand, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said that the G7 leaders should persuade the Taliban to guarantee safe passage to all those who want to leave Afghanistan after August 31.
