Blizzard in US, state of emergency declared in several states
Washington: A state of emergency has been declared in several states due to a blizzard in the United States.
According to foreign media, due to severe blizzard in the United States, emergency has been declared in several states and citizens have been instructed to stay at home. People have also been instructed to stay at home in the capital Washington DC.
Due to the storm, thousands of flights were canceled and power supply to thousands of consumers was cut off.
More than 9 inches of snow fell in the southeastern United States. In some areas the temperature reached minus 10 degrees.
The states that have declared a state of emergency include Virginia, Georgia and North and South Carolina.
Work is underway to remove snow from roads and railroad tracks. The Meteorological Department has forecast more snowfall.
