Pakistan also won the T20 series by defeating South Africa
Pakistan defeated South Africa by 4 wickets in the third T20 to win the series 1-2.
The Green Shirts achieved the target of 165 runs set by South Africa at a loss of 6 wickets in the 19th over and thus won the T20 series after the Test.
In the match played at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, captain Babar Azam won the toss and invited the visitors to bat first.
Milan and Raza Hendrix started the innings for South Africa which was disappointing and Raza was dismissed for 2 runs. After that, the wickets of the Proteas continued to fall and half the team had reached the pavilion for 46 runs.
However, David Miller played a brilliant innings and got the team out of trouble. Miller scored an unbeaten 85 off 45 balls, hitting seven sixes and five fours.
South Africa scored 164 for 8 in the allotted 20 overs.
Zahid Mahmood, who made his debut for the Green Shirts, took three wickets while Mohammad Nawaz and Hassan Ali took three wickets each.
Chasing South Africa’s 165-run target, Pakistan’s innings got off to a solid start with Mohammad Rizwan and Haider Ali, while Pakistan’s first wicket fell to Haider Ali for 51, who was dismissed for 15. Muhammad Rizwan also became LBW by scoring 42 runs, Hussain Talat returned to the pavilion by scoring 5 runs.
Babar Azam played a responsible game but he too was bowled out for 44 runs.
After that Asif Ali and Fahim Ashraf could not walk and scored 7 and 10 runs respectively. After that Muhammad Nawaz and Hassan Ali played a responsible game and led the team to victory. Pakistan chased down the target in the 19th over at a loss of 6 wickets and thus defeated the visiting team by 4 wickets to win the series 1-2.
Babar Azam (44), Mohammad Rizwan (42) remained prominent while Hassan Ali (20) and Mohammad Rizwan (18) remained unbeaten.
Tabriz Shamsi took 4 wickets for South Africa.
Man of the match was Muhammad Nawaz who took 2 wickets and played an unbeaten innings of 18 runs.
Wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan was declared Man of the Series.
It may be recalled that Pakistan had won the first and South Africa the second T20 while Pakistan had earlier whitewashed South Africa in a two-Test series.
