US decides to supply long-range rockets to Ukraine
Washington – The United States has decided to send long-range rockets to Ukraine to counter Russian attacks and persuade it to negotiate.
According to the World News Agency, US President Joe Biden has said that Ukraine will be provided with advanced rocket systems and firearms to hit targets on the battlefield in order to bring Russia to the negotiating table to end the war.
A senior White House official has said that the long-range M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) will be sent to Ukraine, which was requested by Ukraine’s army chief a month ago to counter Russian missiles.
However, the senior official also assured that the weapons would be used only to counter Russian attacks in Ukraine and that the missiles would not be used to hit any target on Russian soil.
Ukrainian officials say long-range missile systems are capable of hitting a barrage of rockets hundreds of miles away, and that the acquisition of these missiles would change the course of the war.
Russia’s response to the US supply of High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) to Ukraine said that the move would increase the risk of Russia-Ukraine war escalating into a direct confrontation.
The announcement by the United States to supply advanced rockets to Ukraine comes as Russian forces have taken control of the eastern Ukrainian city of Sevrodonsk and are advancing their operations in Donbass.
It should be noted that the supply of advanced rockets by the United States is part of a new aid package of 700 million for Ukraine.
